The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), part of the State University of New York and an internationally renowned college of art, design, business and technology with a strong emphasis on liberal arts, invites nominations and applications for a Temporary Department Coordinator in the Fashion Department.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The School of Art and Design seeks a Coordinator to provide administrative and project management support to the Fashion Department. The incumbent will assist the Department Chairs and Associate Coordinator in managing the day-to-day operations of the department and other related tasks.

Essential Functions:

  • Pedagogic entry and maintenance
  • Prepare department minutes/agenda
  • Assist Chair / Assistant Chairs with administrative responsibilities and confidential matters
  • Schedule/Coordinate meetings with administrators, other departments, committees, etc.
  • Alert payroll of any pedagogic issues
  • Work with Assistant Chairs and Evening Coordinator for faculty programming
  • Compose correspondence, memos under own signature and Assistant Chairs
  • Contact faculty with emergency information
  • Work with Facilities office to obtain space for all dept. meetings, portfolio evals, AAS exhibits, BFA fashion show.
  • Assist with administrative duties with exhibits and shows on programs, space planning, and trophies/awards.
  • Provide assistance with faculty liaisons to Industry boards (i.e., contact members for info on scheduling of meetings, maintain membership log).
  • Coordinate Academic Standards student information with audits for Chair/Assistant Chair and follow through working with faculty as they analyze assessment packets for each section of the new AAS/BFA curriculum.
  • Keep Assistant Chairs informed and advised of any problems/situations between students/faculty.
  • Keep track of Chair and all dept. administrators' terms of office and required elections.
  • Monitor Tenure and Promotion committee to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Assist with: various BRIO reports, calendar for advisement appointments, bi-tech, student issues/inquiries, special projects, contacting BFA applicants to set-up interview appointments and train/supervise work study students.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of administrative work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with organizing or contributing to office procedures.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Google Platform, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in an academic setting.
  • Working knowledge of Banner, Blackboard, and Brio.

Days/Hours: M-F, 9am-5pm, in person; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.

Hiring Salary (Prorated): $60,685 per year
