Job Summary:

Serves as an advocate for the STEM department and Mid-Valley STEM - CTE Hub providing outreach and information to community partners about the many opportunities and programs available in STEM and CTE in the Linn-Benton Community College service areas.
This position is excellent preparation for students planning to go into an education field.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills: Requires basic office operations knowledge and clerical skills and competencies using general office equipment including personal computers. Requires good communication, customer relations and phone skills, electronic communication, and writing skills. Familiarity with department policies and procedures is preferred.
Abilities: Must have good organizational skills and be able to stay on task and complete tasks as assigned. Must be able to communicate clearly with diverse populations. Must be able to work respectfully with individuals from all cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.
Education and Experience: Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year’ experience in general clerical or administrative assistance is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Position involves periods sitting at a computer plus light to medium work, which includes, kneeling, and carrying and lifting of light to medium weight materials (10 to 25 pounds). Must be able to operate a computer and general office equipment. Requires ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.

Essential Duties:

1. Serves as an advocate and ambassador for MVSCH and responds to partners request and provide their requested information or resources.
2. Facilitates a work environment that encourages respect for all people involved, including promoting the development of knowledge and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
3. Prepares program materials and develop program and organizational resources (i.e. program flyers, STEM and CTE educational materials). Develops and maintains spreadsheets and databases, including multiple email lists.
4. Assists in coordination and planning of regional events.
5. Assists with community presentations and speaking engagements and represents MVSCH at schools and education programs (area preschools, after school programs, camps, and K-12 schools) on the LBCC campuses and in the community. Events include but are not limited to: campus tours, high school career fairs and college fairs, workshops, outreach at community and regional events, fairs, & area camps and clubs.
6. Facilitates special projects and program activities, including planning, organizing, and scheduling. Coordinate project data collection and analysis. Provides evaluation of project efforts, processes, operations, and results.
7. Job requires occasional travel to community events within Linn and Benton Counties
8. Works weekends and beyond normal business hours at times.
9. Position works with local youth and will require a background check.
10. Takes initiative to be knowledgeable about MVSCH and postsecondary programs (e.g. apprenticeships, certificates, associate degrees, transfer services, degree programs) and services such as, financial aid, scholarships, internships, mentorships, etc.
11. Maintains an effective working relationship with faculty and staff at area PK-20 schools and programs.
12. Helps advance MVSCH’s mission across the entire region by developing relationships with partner agencies and departments in the region’s STEM - CTE ecosystem
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
