JOB SUMMARY:

Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) seeks an Alumni + Family Relations Officer, Reunions to join the Institutional Advancement office. The Officer is responsible for the development and execution of all reunion programming, with the goal to continuously and effectively engage alumni through celebrations of their milestone reunions. Working with the Executive Director of Alumni + Family Relations, the incumbent will establish and execute meaningful relationship-building strategies, communicate regularly with class committees, volunteer recruitment and training, and coordinate with major gift and planned giving donors as well as Relationship Managers for the RISD fund. Additionally, the Officer will serve as the point of contact for all reunion classes, instituting programming that aligns with the interests of the class and maintaining a strong focus of attracting alumni back to campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Develop inclusive and engaging reunion class programs for the 2nd, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th, 50th, and 50+ classes. Identify, recruit, train and work with alumni volunteers to plan class celebrations during RISD Commencement + Reunion Weekend (CRW) including class events, class participation in institutional events, and regional and/or virtual class gatherings leading up to CRW. Develop and implement 18-month reunion planning timelines.
  • Develop an integrated Reunion Class Gift program including a single reunion committee, regional and campus events, and reunion committee meetings, with input from the RISD Fund group.
  • Work with the Institutional Advancement (IA) Special Events staff and IA Communications team on all logistics and communications for programming throughout the year and the culminating CRW.
  • Ensure that alumni participation, including registrations, attendance, and post-attendance follow-up are properly recorded on RaisersEdge database.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Strong time management skills. Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and under deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to individuals of varying backgrounds, including but not limited to, racial, ethnic, religious, gender, cultural, ability, sexual orientation and socioeconomic.
  • Demonstrated experience with alumni and development databases (Raiser’s Edge preferred) and strong computer skills in programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to write persuasively and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and engaging nature.
  • Ability to comfortably and effectively speak in public and make presentations in meetings.
  • Ability to interact and correspond professionally with senior staff and distinguished alumni.
  • Ability to manage and monitor budgets and expenses.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible alumni relations and/or development experience with some experience managing and fostering productive relationships with leadership volunteers.
