Summary of Job Details:

Under the guidance of the Director, the Business Officer plays a key role in ensuring effective and efficient financial and payroll business functions for the department encompassing multiple programs. Perform responsible and complex professional financial and payroll analysis and processing for the department. Extract, research and analyze financial and payroll data, develop, create, and present budget data and report to the Director, and as appropriate, to the division's Director of Budget & Administration. Possess a strong and in depth knowledge of University policies and procedures and Divisional guidelines to process personnel and payroll actions. Provide policy information to staff and handle multiple complex and confidential projects that require strong analytical and organizational skills. Serve as a primary preparer for personnel & payroll adjustments and completes salary adjustments requiring accurate interpretation of policies and procedures affecting staff salaries. In consultation with Director of Budget & Administration, responsible for analyzing staff funding and staffing lists and determines cost effective funding changes ensuring staffing lists are reconciled per policy. Independently develop appropriate business procedures and best practices with procurement, financial, and payroll and personnel processes ensuring that department is in compliance with University Business & Financial policies. Audit and oversee payment processing and general ledger reconciliation. Analyze and interpret new campus business processes and provide recommendations to Director and write and disseminate information to department staff members. Provide training and support to administrative staff for business processes and policies and procedures. Supervises the Office Manager, Program Assistant, and Financial & Payroll Assistant. This position requires a high level of confidentiality, sensitivity, and professional judgment as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. Perform tasks independently or within a team environment. Backs up the Cluster Business Officer and provides administrative, human resource or financial support to cluster departments as needed.

 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in related area  

• Advanced experience working with Excel spreadsheets and in the development of financial shadow tracking systems; ability to extract, analyze, and produce financial reports from financial online systems and Excel

• Advanced experience working with campus financial, payroll, timekeeping, and procurement systems

• Advanced experience working with Microsoft Office suite

Pay Rate/Range:  $27.32 - $30.91/hr

Days/Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00am-5:00pm
