Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Systems, the Operations Systems Analyst manages the lifecycle of data between Human Resources, MIS, and University Systems & Networking ( USAN ), provides direct end-user support for the University Systems team and completes the operational activities of the University Systems team.
The Operational Systems Analyst monitors the daily health of the operating systems and responds to system outages as needed. This position oversees all aspects of USAN Change Management processes; is lead analyst for documenting end user and internal instructions on new initiatives to the systems portfolio; assists in managing departmental inbound calling extension and acts as Tier 1 & 2 support on rotational basis. Flexibility to work required hours to address critical department needs, on-call 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, except when on vacation.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES :
1. Manages relationship between Human Resources, MIS, and University Systems and Networking
2. Supports Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 and Windows 10 in an Active Directory environment.
3. Supports RedHat Linux Servers 7 and 8 in an enterprise environment.
4. Provides end-user support, which includes the resolution of support tickets assigned to the department.
5. Manages the Change Control Meeting and overall operational processes for the University Systems and Networking Department
6. Ensures all changes are made in accordance with FDU’s change control, security, and risk assessment policies,
7. Responsible for documenting University Systems end-user instructions and internal operational processes.
8. Analyzes information and evaluates results to recommend process improvements, choose effective solutions, and solve problems.
9. Assists in managing departmental telephone extension used by outsourced helpdesk and others to resolve tier 1 & tier 2 user issues
10. Follows Change Management process for all changes to production systems, including documenting all changes made to systems.
11. Maintains broad technical knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
12. Flexibility to work required hours to address critical department needs, on-call 24 hours per day, 365 days per year with defined response time 24 hours, except when on vacation.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Systems.

Required Qualifications:

1. Minimum of a BS in Computer Science or equivalent plus 2 years of experience in Microsoft Systems Administration. Microsoft certification is a plus.
2. Ability to perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of windows systems.
3. Knowledge of setting up, maintaining, and monitoring system hardware in data centers with minimal guidance.
4. Knowledge of modifying Active Directory User objects, Group Policy Objects, DNS, DHCP, and ADFS .
5. Knowledge of modifying Microsoft 365 User and groups objects.
6. Experience utilizing various backup software in a virtualized environment like Veeam. Ability to review, troubleshoot, and restore systems from backup software as needed.
7. Knowledge in accessing guest VMs in a VMware infrastructure.
8. Familiarity in working with relational database management systems ( SQL, MySQL.).
9. General knowledge of Cloud technologies, Networking, TCP /IP, and networking protocols ( NFS, CIFS, SMB2).
10. Effective organizational skills to meet schedules and timelines. Must be able to work independently and produce deliverables to manage deadlines.
11. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and balance priorities with good time management skills.
12. Strong coordination and planning skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
13. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
14. Good verbal and written communication skills.
15. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of University personnel and students.
16. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to creatively challenge current methods and procedures.
17. Independent learner and self-directed; takes the initiative while working within a team context.
18. Must enjoy researching new technologies, learning, and expanding one’s knowledge.
19. Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies to the best of one’s ability.
20. Valid driver’s license and access to transportation for travel between campuses.
21. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
