Job Description:
The Financial Aid/Veteran Services Specialist position supports the Coordinator, Veteran Services in the support and assistance of veterans and their dependents in the use of Veterans Administration educational assistance programs and other financial aid for which they may qualify, including grants, loans, scholarships, work study, and outside agency programs. The Specialist will assist with the day to day operations of the Veteran Services Department. Reports to the Coordinator, Veteran Services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate degree or its equivalent. Relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-to-year basis. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
*Per F.S. 295.065 - Certain servicemembers and veterans, and the spouses and family members of such servicemembers and veterans, will receive preference and priority, and certain servicemembers may be eligible to receive waivers for postsecondary educational requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prior military service or experience working with the unique needs of veterans and military families and their benefits is preferred.
ANNUAL SALARY: $27,825.00 ($14.27/hour)
