S chedule Information: Per course schedule; maintains a minimum of 15 contact hours of teaching and 10 office hours per week for student consultation
Weeks per fiscal year: Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August thru May)

Position Description and Duties:
Harper College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the nutrition department. This is a nine-month appointment with responsibilities consistent with the mission of the Nutrition Department, Dietetic Internship program and accreditation standards of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Additional summer course load and responsibilities possible.
Primary responsibilities include teaching 15 contact-hours and maintaining 6 office hours per week for student consultation; maintaining highest possible standards of classroom instruction; applying innovative teaching and learning pedagogies; using nutrition-related software technologies in the classroom.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the nutrition transfer degree and Dietetic Internship program responsibilities.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with transfer schools and assisting students in transfer plans.
- Maintaining the nutrition lab and grocery pick up
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with surrounding community partners.
- Participating on the nutrition advisory committee and meets with the committee at least two times per year.
- Assisting with submission of regular accreditation reports, program assessment, and ensuring the program meets the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
- Plan and teach a variety of program courses, including classroom and lab sections
- Serve on college committees
- Participate in departmental and division initiatives
- Assist in programmatic curriculum, course, and program assessments annually.
- Update syllabi and engage students in innovative instructional methods to achieve course objectives.
Experience Requirements: Must have a minimum of three years professional experience post credentialing. Five years of professional practice, one year of teaching experience, and experience working with nutrition students and/or as a Preceptor of Dietetics students is preferred. Experience working in a diverse environment preferred.
