Salary: $16.00 per hour

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a part-time Human Resources Assistant in our Office of Human Resources. The Human Resources Assistant works under the direction of the Executive Director of Human Resources to provide administrative and clerical support in the areas of personnel transactions, personnel records and files, recruitment, onboarding and benefits for the Office of Human Resources. Provides information and assistance in person and on the telephone to college personnel, staff, and the public regarding personnel matters. Supports an inclusive environment and works with a diverse population. Models excellence in service to the College community.

Key responsibilities for this position include:
  • Performs a variety of personnel and clerical duties for the department;
  • Processes employee transactions in the HRIS system accurately and effectively communicate to payroll and other offices as necessary;
  • Provides information and assistance in person or on the telephone to college personnel, staff, and the public regarding a variety of personnel matters, such as job availability, personnel regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Assists with filing of documents, which includes but is not limited to new hire forms, personnel action letters, evaluations, and transcripts;
  • Receives, processes, records and files change of address and employment verification requests;
  • Prepares, analyzes and distributes correspondence and reports using appropriate college technology;
  • Prepares and processes payment vouchers and records expenditures for human resource office budgets;
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information regarding collective bargaining agreements and other sensitive information;
  • Assists with special projects in the Human Resources Department;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Human Resources.
This part-time position consists of 15-20 per week and offers flexible daytime hours. The successful candidate must have the availability to work Monday - Thursday.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree
  • One (1) year of human resources or related office experience
  • Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong data entry and typing skills; accurate typing speed of 50 wpm or faster
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to accuracy
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and superior customer service to effectively manage inquiries and requests for internal and external customers
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple concurrent projects and accommodate frequent interruptions
  • Demonstrated ability to work with business computer software programs and information systems and databases, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint or similar software programs
