Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Accounts Payable Manager, process and review invoice payments such as invoices, wires, check processes and vendor statements. Audit for appropriate documentation and applying State Laws and University Policies to ensure accuracy and prompt payment. Requires use of judgment and discretion on interpretation of Accounts Payable policies and procedures. Research and initiate bank check stop payments, check cancellations. Initiate wire transfers payments to foreign countries, ensuring the University is in compliance with OFAC, investigating returned wires and determining the resolution. Provide UI department staff and vendors with payment status by investigating and initiating corrections to provide timely payments to our customers. Assist in the implementation of new technologies to maintain industry standards, assisting the Accounts Payable Manager with special projects such as development of strategic initiatives and applying the initiatives to the Accounts Payable payment processes in order to meet department goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years’ related work experience.
- Experience in reconciling accounts, compiling account information, interpreting and applying regulations and policies. Identifying, researching, excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently with little supervision, be able to demonstrate the ability to work with different personalities and be a team player.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or combination of education and experience for 5 years of experience.
- Knowledge of Banking Procedures, Foreign Wire transfers and OFAC compliance procedures.
