Job Summary

The Associate Director for Adult and Online Learning will provide leadership and guidance for the planning, implementation, marketing, and quality assurance of new and existing online programs, as well as programs for adult and non-traditional learners. In collaboration with key personnel in academic departments and colleges, Institutional Research, the Faculty Center, University Communications and Marketing, Enrollment Management, Information Technology, Student Success, and Continuing and Professional Education, the Associate Director will develop comprehensive plans for introducing and promoting innovative academic offerings to meet the needs of online and adult students.

The Associate Director will evaluate the existing institutional support and resources to ensure the sustainability and growth of online programs and will support the development and implementation of meaningful metrics for assessment, and quality. The Associate Director will oversee a comprehensive prior learning assessment program, advise students on transitioning to college, assist students with receiving credit, outline the shortest path to a degree, and facilitate the creation of a full-service online campus.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive market analyses including identification of employment trends, peer and competitor institution offerings, prospective student populations, promotional strategies, and trends to support program, departmental, and college leadership in the development of online programs
  • Evaluate existing institutional programs, services, support, and resources to determine the viability and sustainability of current and future online programs
  • Establish institutional policies and procedures to guide the introduction, implementation, maintenance, and oversight of online programs
  • Coordinate with instructional designers and faculty to ensure the timely development of online courses
  • Collaborate with University Communications and Marketing and Enrollment Management in the development of internal and external promotional materials, events, and strategies to generate enrollment of adult and non-traditional students
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management to create and assess an online orientation program specifically targeting online and adult learners
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of an online prior learning assessment course, including serving as the student's main contact and facilitator of the process
  • Collaborate with the Division of Continuing and Professional Education to facilitate student matriculation to degree-granting programs
  • Maintain accurate records and produce reports relevant to student success metrics and key performance indicators
  • Collaborate with the program, departmental, and college leadership to establish student learning outcomes assessment processes for online courses
  • Represent the university in the system Distance Education RAC
  • Assist with the implementation of the components of the Adult Learner strategic plan
  • Assist with developing the online campus by recruiting students and advertising programs targeted to adult students.
  • Develop programming to facilitate a transition to college for students in continuing education
  • Lead initiatives to improve online and adult student, enrollment, persistence, and graduation
  • Will work closely with Adult and Transfer Admissions and Military and Veterans Services and Advising to connect adult students with the resources needed to be admitted and enrolled and seek benefits, and scholarships.
  • Assists stopped-out students with return options, figuring out the fastest way to a degree, and informing administrators of student needs for online, night, and weekend courses.
  • May serve as an instructor of record for PLA courses and FYE/SYE courses targeted to adult and online learners


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university

Required Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience
  • Two (2) or more years of experience teaching in an online environment
  • Experience working with program development
  • Experience with evidence-based decision-making relevant to curriculum/programming
  • Experience with a learning management system
  • Familiarity with the needs of the adult or non-traditional learner


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree from an accredited college or university

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with facilitating cross-divisional initiatives/projects
  • Experience with D2L, Google Apps Suite, and Open Educational Resources
  • Knowledge of prior learning assessment
  • Work in scholarly support or student success in higher education
  • Familiarity with student learning outcomes assessment best practices


Proposed Salary

$61,300 - $75,000

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
