Department Summary

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. The department has approximately 250 administrative & classified employees, hosts over 600,000 spectators annually, and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.
Position Summary

The Assistant Director for Marketing, Community Outreach & Student Engagement exercises independent, professional judgment beyond proscribed routine policies and procedures to carry out his/her responsibilities for the development, coordination, and implementation of marketing initiatives to increase student attendance and engagement at UO athletic events. This position will oversee the recruitment and management of the Pit Crew Student Organization and Street Team student internship.
Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of experience working in the areas of marketing or community relations.

  • Soft skills that are essential to this position: entrepreneurial, communicative, interpersonal, and organized.
  • Solid administrative skills and the ability to motivate staff and volunteers to achieve department goals.
  • Ability to strategize, prioritize and multi-task to meet goals and deadlines.
  • High motivation with a capacity for hard work within the context of an intensely goal-oriented environment.
    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within college athletics.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator.
  • Candidates with experience serving the needs of diverse populations are strongly desired.
