The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time Purchasing Coordinator in our Business Office. The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for directing the acquisition of goods and services through a centralized purchasing system for College operations and accounting for fixed assets.

Key responsibilities for this position include:
  • Serves as a senior, technical expert conducting procurements of selected complex products or services, which involves determining the appropriate procurement method;
  • Collects and analyzes information and develops bid specifications;
  • Initiates procurement action utilizing all available methods;
  • Tabulates and analyzes solicitation bids, determining low, responsive, and responsible bidders;
  • Recommends award of contract or placing purchase orders for goods and services within limit of signatory authority;
  • Assists with the inventory, location and depreciation records;
  • Provides supervision and training to staff;
  • Represents departments in communicating with vendors;
  • Acts as liaison between vendor, purchase requestor, Accounts Payable and Receiving Department to resolve purchasing problems within the College;
  • Initiates effective relationships with suppliers, actual and potential, regarding specifications, costs and inspections relating to the College's requirements;
  • Negotiates and/or determines contract terms and conditions for goods and services according to College standards and specifications;
  • Prepares bid invitations, evaluates and analyzes proposals in coordination with users and makes awards;
  • Determines applicability of state, municipal and educational contract prices as required;
  • Follows-up on vendor contracts and agreement requirements;
  • Maintains vendor database and tracks vendor performance;
  • Provides contract management including internal audits of contracts, identification of opportunities and/or problem areas;
  • Assists users in defining budgetary needs;
  • Tracks cost savings and cost avoidance;
  • Assists in special projects, as directed;
  • Performs other duties related to this job description and as assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field and four (4) years’ experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field and two (2) years’ experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Banner software program
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong organization and documentation skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Three (3) years' supervisory experience
  • Three (3) years' public purchasing work experience such as federal, state, county or educational institutions
