Drew University seeks a highly motivated and professional Administrative Assistant to provide administrative support to the Research Institute for Scientists Emeriti (RISE) and the Science Departments. Reporting to the Director of RISE, the Assistant will join a collaborative team that supports faculty and students in the College of Liberal Arts and Caspersen School of Graduate Studies. The Assistant will manage events and coordinate projects across the Science Departments. Strong organizational and communication skills are required.

The Administrative Assistant’s responsibilities include supporting the daily operations in Sciences:

● Provide comprehensive administration support for the Science departments, which includes managing calendars, contacts, correspondence to ensure efficient execution of administrative procedures and processes central to the departments and programs;

● Administrative support for the annual ResMed course as an event coordinator. Interface with registrants and faculty from outside of Drew, interface with a variety of vendors, hotels, audio-visual companies and publishing companies.

● Respond in a timely manner to requests for information and refer to other resources as appropriate;

● Maintain adequate office supplies and other materials required for the operation of the Science departments;

● Support departmental and programmatic events, including room scheduling, advertising, communications and service requests, as required;

● Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of RISE.

This is a full-time, 12-month position beginning as soon as possible.


Bachelor’s degree is required and/or a combination of education and experience which demonstrates knowledge and understanding of event planning, office administration, work organization, collaboration, and report writing.

Required Skills:

● Excellent written, oral communication and event planning skills. Sensitivity to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact effectively with faculty, staff and students.

● Project management, organizational skills and keen attention to detail.

● Proven ability to work effectively as a team player; highly motivated, focused, self-initiating, and results oriented.

● Ability to exercise discretion and tact in interpersonal contacts, and to maintain confidentiality at all times.

● Ability to manage multiple tasks according to required deadlines.

● Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, Google Workspace, and Zoom.
