The Department of Secondary Education at Kutztown University invite applications for a temporary faculty position in teacher education with the specific assignment of student teaching supervision for the Spring 2023 semester. Scholars from underrepresented groups in the academy are particularly encouraged to apply. The primary teaching responsibility will be supervision of 10 student teachers, mostly in Secondary science education, and this comprises a 2 course load. Flexibility in hiring will allow for 1 temporary faculty member to supervise all 10 or for 2 temporary faculty members to supervise 5 each. University supervision includes classroom observations during public school teaching hours and a weekly practicum held on the university campus focusing on best practices in student teaching, developing interview skills, and facilitating core program assessments. Besides teaching, hired temporary faculty in our department contribute to departmental service as needed and continue their scholarly growth. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service. Required: A Master’s degree in education, 3 years teaching experience in public schools, and experience working with racially, culturally and linguistically diverse student populations. Preferred: A PhD or EdD degree in education or a related field; experience supervising teachers as cooperating teacher, university supervisor, or building principal/supervisor; experience teaching university coursework related to teacher education.

To apply, please submit a curriculum vita, cover letter, unofficial transcripts, and the names and contact information of three references. Submit these to the department search committee chair, Dr. Andrew Miness, at secedsearch@kutztown.edu. Official transcripts for all degrees earned are required before hire. Applications will be reviewed beginning November 27, 2022, and will continue until the position is filled.
