Faculty Position in Public Health at Purdue University

Associate/Full Professor

The Position

The Department of Public Health in the College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) seeks applicants for a new faculty position in public health at the associate or full professor level. This will be an academic year appointment. The expertise of the candidate should be in public health or a closely related field ; the candidate’s duties will be to complement and/or strengthen active areas of research, teaching, and engagement activity in the department (https://hhs.purdue.edu/research/departmental-research/department-of-public-health-research/), as well as support the college’s signature areas including Developmental Health and Wellness, Healthy Lifestyles and Vital Longevity, and Sustainable and Thriving Communities and Organizations. Requirements
Applicants must hold a doctorate in public health or a closely related field.  Applicants at the associate professor level should have demonstrated success in research (as evidenced by publication record and extramural funding), teaching, service, and experience in mentoring faculty and students. Applicants at the full professor level should have an active and sustained record of extramurally funded independent research, teaching experience, service to the profession, and a successful history of mentoring faculty and students.  We view diversity, equity, and inclusion as essential to our mission as a department, and applicants having a demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in their research, teaching, and/or service are preferred.

The Department of Public Health at Purdue University

The overall mission of the Department of Public Health is to conduct the highest caliber research in public health, to educate students in a diverse and inclusive environment, and to promote health through engagement with the public. The department is committed to providing exceptional undergraduate and graduate education and currently has approximately over 150 undergraduate students and 230 graduate students. Degree programs include the BS, MS, online MHA, and PhD in Public Health, as well as CEPH-accredited MPH and online MPH.

The fast-growing and dynamic Department of Public Health is the newest unit in the College of Health and Human Sciences, which comprises nine departments, including Nursing, Nutrition Science, Health Sciences (which includes environmental health), Human Development and Family Studies, and Psychological Sciences. It is the third-largest college at Purdue with over 350 faculty and more than 6000 students. Opportunities for collaboration exist across all units and throughout the campus.
