Job Description & Qualification
The Area of Finance invites applications for up to two non‐tenure‐track Assistant or
Associate Professor of Practice positions beginning Fall 2023. These positions will support
our growing real estate certificate program. Course load will be 18 credit hours per year
with teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Salary and support are
competitive. There may also be opportunities for additional (overload) teaching in the 9‐
month academic year and summer for extra compensation.
Preferred candidates will have a Ph.D. in Real Estate or Finance (or closely related
discipline) but this is not mandatory. Relevant experience and professional certifications
pertaining to the commercial real estate industry is a plus. Outstanding candidates with a
terminal degree and commensurate experience will also be considered.
Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching in both
online and face‐to‐face modalities. Service to the department, college, and university is
expected (commensurate with rank). Service duties include program‐building related to
our commercial real estate certificate program, as well as a commitment to student
organizations and other extra‐curricular activities. Texas Tech University is a Hispanic

scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear

About the Organization
The Area of Finance is one of six academic units in the AACSB accredited Rawls College of
Business. The Area has 18 full‐time and emeritus faculty with a strong commitment to
high‐quality academic research in a collegial work environment. We subscribe to all major
databases (with access through WRDS) and provide an outstanding technology and
computing environment.
The real estate program at the Rawls College of Business serves over 500 graduate and
undergraduate students each year, with approximately 50 students enrolled in the
Commercial Real Estate Certificate (CREL) program. Additionally, the real estate program
provides numerous student experiences to enhance the value, quality, and sustainability
of its commercial real estate academic offerings.
