Job Description:

The Librarian position is a 12-month extended contract tenure-track faculty position with a start date in Spring 2023, though a different start date may be negotiated. The successful candidate will answer reference and research queries, conduct orientations and class tours, teach college credit courses as assigned, serve as a liaison to College departments, and attend department, college, and regional meetings and academic functions. This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills, a focus on customer service, the ability to provide efficient and effective public services in an academic library, and advanced skills in operating and maintaining automated library systems. Also required for this position is excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a member of a team, and a commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. Multiple campus, day, evening, and weekend assignments may be required. This position reports to the Department Head of Libraries.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master’s degree in library science or library and information science. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an American Library Association accredited program and two years of professional librarian experience.

SALARY RANGE: $48,910.00 - $54,910.00

Pay Details:

Faculty members hired with less than three years of related experience shall be placed on the salary schedule as follows:

164 Day Base (2022 - 2023)
  • Bachelor's or Less - $35,000
  • Master's - $37,750
  • Master's Plus - $39,500
  • Doctorate - $42,500
All degree classification levels add the appropriate dollars (up to $6,000) for years of credited experience to the annual salary figures above to determine entry salary.
