The Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, tenured or tenure-track faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning fall of 2023. Applicants will be considered at the assistant professor, associate professor and professor level for a position in civil & environmental engineering with a focus on sustainable infrastructure materials. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong, fundamental knowledge and ability to apply experimental and analytical expertise, artificial intelligence and data science, or modeling methods to research in sustainable infrastructure materials. We are particularly interested in candidates that are capable of contributing to interdisciplinary teams focused on laboratory characterization, field performance modeling, design/engineering, life-cycle cost analysis, and life cycle assessment of sustainable infrastructure materials.
Candidates applying at the assistant professor rank should demonstrate rigorous training in a core area of civil engineering or materials science, and strong potential to affect the field through original scholarship, excellent teaching and student mentoring, and service to the university and profession. Applicants at the associate professor rank must have an established research record demonstrating the ability to advance engineering through the application of fundamental knowledge, evidence of excellence in teaching and student mentoring, and should demonstrate the potential to become a leader in their field. Applicants at the full professor rank must be a leader in their field with an international reputation for research, teaching, and service.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate level; advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate research students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession. Strong written and verbal communication skills are expected.
