Position Summary:

The Senior Applications Analyst assists in managing the Jenzabar student information system along with the College’s broader portfolio of software to ensure technology across the campus serves the College’s mission. This individual will often serve as a facilitator between end user and vendor for those services sourced to third parties.

Individuals performing this role are responsible to the perpetual support, maintenance, and modifications to information systems with a focus on SQL databases. As a member of the broader technology team serving the college, they work closely as an escalation point for the College’s Technology Help Desk to address end user inquiries.

The Senior Applications Analyst analyzes and designs detailed specifications for applications that solve the needs of the campus community. Solutions range from simple to complex and may be independently deployed or implemented through a team or more formalized project. The employee will be challenged to be a problem solver, innovator, and trusted advisor to the college’s Chief Information Officer.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in system analysis and/or computer programming or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
  • Experience in preparing manuals, reports, and documentation for applications.
  • Excellent written and organizational skills with proven ability to implement technology solutions to end users.

Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer, the Senior Applications Analyst is accountable for effective performance in these essential areas:
  • Support of the Student Information System (currently Jenzabar) and SQL servers
  • Maintenance of databases including table creation, stored procedures, triggers, and agent jobs
  • Facilitate user account access, application security, and maintain compliance with various College, CSCU System, and State of Connecticut policies
  • Design and execute solutions for common challenges such as data mapping, and workflow rules within the context of the Jenzabar, JICS, Salesforce, PowerFaids, and OnBase document imaging systems.
  • Brainstorm, design, implement and/or maintain various integrations across the student information systems and software portfolio.
  • Continually enhance digital experiences for both students and staff through the student portal and customer service interactions.
  • Support system upgrades including project management, testing, user training, department acceptance and support.
  • Work with various vendors to ensure system availability and functionality to support ongoing information system requirements.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other IT team members to support applications and users. Responds quickly, professionally, and courteously to help desk tickets and support calls to ensure quick response to all end users.
  • Work with vendors and perform the appropriate due diligence for the implementation and ongoing maintenance of technology while providing transparency to the process for relevant end users.
  • Maintain current knowledge of professional issues to build a cadence of results and innovation.
  • Ensure appropriate level of training materials are available through a technology library from student and staff consumption to effectively leverage campus technology.
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Starting Salary:

Anticipated salary; $67,729 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.

Selection Procedure:
