Job Description:

The Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida invites forward-thinking, energetic, creative physical therapists to apply for a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor and Assistant Director of Clinical Education position. This is a 12-month, full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure track teaching related appointment. This position includes administrative assignment to the clinical education curriculum to ensure the quality and consistency of our student clinical experiences, teaching in areas of UFDPT program need and the applicant’s area of expertise, contributions to department and university committees, participating in community service initiatives, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the program. Position requirements :

Administration: The Assistant Director of Clinical Education (ADCE) primary duties are to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and monitor the clinical education component of the DPT program in coordination with the Director of Clinical Education (DCE), academic and clinical faculty. This includes establishing and evaluating clinical education sites, as well as facilitating development and communication with sites. The ADCE works to transition students from the didactic to clinical curriculum, monitors and supports students’ progression throughout the clinical curriculum, and acts as the liaison between the program, students and clinical site. ADCE duties can occur outside of a traditional business day.

Teaching: Teach in the area of content expertise and programmatic need. This includes classroom instruction as lead or co-instructor, mentoring and advising DPT students, and participating in the development/design and revision of the UFDPT curriculum.

Scholarly Work: Contribute to scholarly activity within the area of teaching and/or clinical expertise.

Service: Participate actively as a member of the university community on administrative committees, search committees, in department, college and university governance activities, student advising, and community engagement/service learning activities.

Minimum Requirements:

The candidate should have a post-professional doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) or post-professional Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, etc.). Licensed, or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the state of Florida is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications: Candidates must also have experience supervising students in an academic and/or clinical environment. We seek someone who demonstrates initiative and is a highly organized problem solver with the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, clinicians, and others with diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications : The preferred applicant will have at least 5 years of experience in clinical practice, and experience with academic teaching, and specialty certification. Content expertise in the areas of musculoskeletal practice and screening for referral is preferred. An awareness of and direct experience with current issues affecting DPT clinical education, and experience in Clinical Education is strongly preferred. The preferred candidate will be highly organized with strong communication skills and have demonstrated experience in conflict management and de-escalation of uncomfortable or emotional situations. The candidate will demonstrate commitment to working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, clinicians, and others with diverse backgrounds.
