Job Description:

A Post-doctoral Associate position is available to work on a project on the protoplanetary disk and planet formation research led by Dr. Jaehan Bae in the Department of Astronomy. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2023, but can be negotiated.

We have a position available in our group to work on the development of a machine-learning tool to search for young, forming exoplanets embedded in protoplanetary disks, which will be applied to archival and newly obtained ALMA data. We are looking for individuals familiar with (or eager to learn) hydrodynamic simulations, radiative transfer calculations, machine learning, and/or ALMA observations.

The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or Computer Science by the date of appointment. This position will be initially awarded for one year, and, contingent upon strong performance and conduct and availability of funds, may be renewed for up to three years.

Expected Salary:

The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the compensation includes a full benefits package.

Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or Computer Science.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in hydrodynamic simulations, radiative transfer calculations, machine learning, and/or ALMA observations would be preferred.
