Job Summary:

The Administrative Assistant for Academic Advisement and Internships provides advanced and diversified administrative support to the Directors of the Sport Management Program at Fairleigh Dickinson University. The focus for this position is on academic advising, internship and job placement, and administrative support for students and faculty. Advising responsibilities include, serving as initial point of contact for students, faculty, and administrators and providing support for Sport Management programs and initiatives. Recognizing the needs of first-year students and providing interventions to support new student success. Internship and job placement responsibilities include engaging with sport management industry professionals and organizations, community outreach, and identifying career pathways for students. Advises students on available internship and experiential learning opportunities and helps them acquire these positions appropriate to their goals. Administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to, responding to inquiries, updating and filing of records and documents, supporting our School’s advisory board, engaging with alumni and assisting with on and off campus activities. This position is minimally required to be on-site at the Metropolitan Campus two days per week and the Florham Campus two days per week.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree required in a related field of study.
2. A minimum of two years of work related experience required.
3. Experience working in the Sport Management industry preferred.
4. Academic administrative experience working with students, faculty, and staff preferred.
5. Proficiency in data management and analysis, reporting, graphics, social media, and on-line services applications.
6. Must be available to work non-standard hours including evenings and/or weekends.
7. Valid driver’s license and accessibility to transportation for travel to the Metropolitan Campus and the Florham Campus.
8. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
