Position Description Summary/Purpose :

This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of construction projects at the University.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

  • Determines scope, budget, and schedule for new projects including case studies as required.
  • Works to implement Goodwins Capital Improvement Projects.
  • Assists in project planning by determining and documenting project objectives and plans, setting performance requirements, and selecting project participants.
  • Maintains project reporting and communications.
  • Procures services from consultants, contractors, etc. and products from vendors utilizing purchase orders and other appropriate processes
  • Maintains adherence to budgetary guidelines, and expected quality requirements.
  • Documents scope revisions and adjusts budget as required.
  • Works with consultants and contractors to resolve construction issues and change orders.
  • Ensures that the project is completed within the triple constraints of scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Receives and catalogues required close-out documents and ensures that appropriate Facilities staff receive all operating equipment manuals, as-builts and training.
Other Functions :
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with technical product aspects and code changes.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill :
  • Solid analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Reading blueprints and understanding other construction documents
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and excellent project management skills
  • Ability to easily work with building officials, consultants, contractors, and vendors

Education, Training and Experience :
  • A Bachelor’s degree in project management, construction, engineering, architecture, accounting, finance or business or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a related field.
Special Requirements :
  • A CT Driver’s license and insured vehicle
