Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time faculty position of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. This position requires academic background in criminal justice as well as teaching and research experience in one or more subfields of criminal justice. The successful candidate must show a commitment to undergraduate student success, effective classroom teaching, support and growth of the department and the Criminal Justice Program, and service to the university. The ideal candidate would have a PhD in Criminal Justice or related field; those nearing terminal degree by start date will be considered. Responsibilities/Duties:

  • As a full-time member of the faculty, the candidate must be willing to engage in all aspects of university life, including teaching, service, and scholarship. The candidate must be willing to teach a variety of courses, including introductory and upper-level criminal justice courses, as well as supervising internships. Teaching load may include some evening, online, hybrid, and summer courses.
  • Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS).

  • Skilled in teaching a wide variety of courses in criminal justice
  • Demonstrates a commitment to and capacity for excellent undergraduate teaching and creating connections with the community

  • Improves work performance and that of others by being receptive to and appropriately sharing information

Minimum Experience Required:

Previous teaching at the undergraduate level in the field of criminal justice.

Education Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate would have a PhD in Criminal Justice or related field. Those nearing terminal degree by start date will be considered.
  • Undergraduate certification or colloquy completion as a professional church worker in the LCMS is preferred.
