The President’s Office at Messiah University is currently accepting applications and nominations for the position of Vice Provost for Student Success & Engagement.

The Vice Provost for Student Success & Engagement oversees all aspects of the undergraduate co-curricular educational program and is responsible for the University’s student experience strategy. This position directs and motivates the professional and support staff of the Dean of Students Office, Athletics, Campus Ministries, the Agape Center, the Engle Center, the Academic Success Center, the Office of the Director of Student Success, the Office of Experiential Learning, Residential Life and the Office of Career & Professional Development.

Education: Master’s Degree with PhD/Doctorate preferred and 3-8 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education with a focus on student success and engagement.

Direct Reports: Dean of Students; Dean, Experiential Learning & Leadership Development; Student Success & Engagement Budget & Personnel Coordinator; Director, Community Wellness Initiatives & Campus Recreation; Director, Academic Success Center; Director, Student Success, Director, Athletics, Director, Campus Ministries/Teaching Ministries Pastor; Coordinator for Student Success & Engagement/Administrative Assistant

Qualifications:  This position requires significant experience across a broad spectrum of student development and engagement programming.  Responsibilities require comprehensive understanding of the spiritual, educational, and social development of students as well as the ability to model a Christian faith journey and to support and articulate the University’s mission and vision for Christian higher education.  The position also requires the following:

  • Exceptional leadership and management skills, including the ability to positively motivate teams.
  • Ability to determine and communicate ambitious yet appropriate goals.
  • Highly refined relationship management skills.
  • Well-developed strategic planning skills.
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively     across a broad spectrum of community constituencies.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills, with a keen understanding of effective communication practices. 
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Expert proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn new/in-house software quickly
