We seek applicants who can strengthen our research programs and curricular offerings and who will contribute to NYU’s Steinhardt Institute for Higher Education Policy. As a program long dedicated to enhancing equity, diversity, and opportunity in education, we especially encourage candidates from historically underrepresented groups to apply.
Responsibilities: Conduct research that leads to publications in major academic journals and professional outlets as well as grant funding; teach and advise/mentor students in both our master’s and doctoral programs; serve on committees of doctoral students; engage in program & course development processes as well as on-going program assessment and improvement processes; participate in faculty meetings, committees, and other services appropriate to a university faculty member is expected.
NYU’s dynamic global network includes NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU Shanghai, and 12 Global Academic Centers around the world. NYU Steinhardt faculty may be afforded the opportunity for variable term work at these global study and research sites.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in higher education or a related field before the time of hiring. We seek an individual who is committed to the pursuit of equity and excellence in research and teaching and whose scholarship and teaching address one or more of the key areas in higher education: foundations; organization and governance; public and institutional policy; college students; international and comparative higher education. We welcome applications from a wide range of disciplinary (e.g., history, sociology, economics) and methodological backgrounds. Finally, we seek an individual who demonstrates evidence of the capacity to publish impactful research in major academic and professional outlets and to secure external funding.
Applications instructions:
Please submit a letter of application indicating the candidate’s qualifications for the position, a curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of 3 references (reference letters may be requested at a later date) via the Interfolio system.
