Position Summary
The Department of Africana and American Studies (housing a PhD and MA in American Studies and undergraduate degrees in African and African American Studies and American Studies) at the University at Buffalo is seeking to make an appointment to its faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2023.
We are seeking a specialist in African Studies, with broad interests in popular culture and gender, who can contribute to our interdisciplinary unit. In addition to research, the successful candidate will be expected to take the lead in teaching large sections of a number of the department’s general education offerings, including “Introduction to Africana Studies” and “Hip Hop and Social Issues” as well as upper division undergraduate and graduate courses in African popular culture and gender. The teaching load is 4 courses per year.
