Associate Director for Visit Experience, Oakland

About the Opportunity

Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Admissions, Mills College at Northeastern University, the Associate Director of Admissions for Visit Experience will manage the on-campus visit experience for the Northeastern University campus in Oakland, California. The Associate Director for Visit Experience will be responsible for the daily operations of the Visitor Center, including scheduling programs, ensuring staff and student availability, and monitoring programs in Slate. Additionally, they will oversee and develop the Ambassador program of current students who will give tours and present as part of the visit experience. This position also includes management responsibilities for professional staff on the admissions team in Oakland.

Northeastern University merged with Mills College on July 1st 2022 to form Mills College at Northeastern University. This role will be directly involved in the development of Northeastern's Office of Undergraduate Admissions Oakland-based team. The Associate Director for Visit Experience will leverage campus partners including facilities, catering, public safety, and others to support the visit experience and admissions campus events. The Associate Director will collaborate with the Boston-based Admissions Events Team to iterate on processes and programing to meet the needs of the Oakland campus as they change and grow. This position also serves as a territory manager for undergraduate admissions, taking part in recruitment and evaluation of first-year and transfer students. The Associate Director represents the University to prospective students, families and secondary school counselors and will present publicly for college information sessions in the Oakland visitor center. The position also actively contributes to the office welfare by working collaboratively with managers in the unit to achieve institutional enrollment goals. Some evening and weekend hours required.

Required Qualifications:
  • 4 - 6 years of relevant work experience, preferably in undergraduate admissions or campus events management
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong presentation skills
  • A high level of organization, with considerable experience in process management, short-term and long-term planning, and the ability to set priorities
  • Clear communication and an analytic, data-driven approach to work
  • A focus on customer service and attention to detail
  • A proven ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborator
  • High level of competency / polish with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • Student and professional staff management experience
  • Experience working with Slate and Tableau

A successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, who actively contributes to office welfare in a high volume, fast-paced environment. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across units and is sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse constituencies is required. Occasional travel may be required.

The expected hiring range for this position is USD $58,100 to USD $74,075, based upon the position's scope and responsibilities.
