Neuropsychologist for Rowan Geriatrics

The New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging, Department of Geriatrics and Gerontology at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey is seeking a licensed neuropsychologist to join our pioneering and expanding team.

The New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging (NJISA) has a distinguished history dating back to its origins in the 1980’s. It is a designated Center of Excellence with a tripartite mission of clinical service, education and research. It is a multidisciplinary Center, providing team based care to older individuals.

The Department consists of a diversified faculty and staff including geriatricians, geriatric psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, behavioral researchers, neuroscientist researchers, nurse practitioners, social workers and health educators. It offers primary care services across the continuum of care, including acute care, ambulatory care, home and assisted living care, subacute and long-term care. Specialty programs include the Memory Assessment Program, Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, and House Calls.

NJISA’s research focuses on behavioral research, basic science/translational research, and research in primary care. NJISA is home to a Biomarker Discovery Center and is engaged in significant research on Alzheimer’s disease and digital neuropsychological screening. Funding is provided by the National Institutes of Health and private foundations. NJISA also either participates in or leads multi-institutional research projects.

NJISA provides an array of educational offerings to families, caregivers, and health professionals. As a Department in Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, NJISA is also committed to training the physicians of tomorrow. NJISA’s educational programs extend to other health professionals including nursing, pharmacy, public health, and biomedical sciences. Our goal is to create a healthcare workforce that is prepared to meet the needs of the growing generation of older individuals.

Job Description

The New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging (NJISA) within the Department of Geriatrics and Gerontology at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey, is seeking a licensed neuropsychologist (PhD or PsyD) for a faculty position as a full-time Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor. The qualified candidate must possess clinical experience with the elderly population and proficiency in administering neuropsychological assessments. Knowledge of neuropsychological assessment using the Boston Process Approach is desirable. The candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with an inter-professional team of dedicated medical and behavioral professionals in providing care to patients in clinical programs including our Memory Assessment Program. Candidates with an ongoing and demonstrable research agenda on any aspect of aging, mild cognitive impairment, or dementia are highly desirable.

Primary responsibilities of this position include:
  • Initiate and maintain an ongoing research agenda.
  • Evaluate/diagnose neurocognitive disorders primarily with the geriatric population.
  • Provide daily assessments on assigned patients, including face-to-face evaluation, review of diagnostic testing and consultation reports, and review of assessments provided by other disciplines.
  • Participate in family and caregiver meetings as clinically indicated.
  • Perform other duties as designated by the department Chairperson.
  • Participate in teaching activities and staff development of the department.
Candidates must possess a PhD or PsyD. in Clinical Psychology from an accredited doctoral program. Candidate must be licensed in the State of New Jersey at the time of hire.
