Location: Washburn Tech
Position Summary: The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for providing support and coordination of human resource activities and functions at the Washburn University Institute of Technology (Washburn Tech) campuses.
Essential Functions:
As a member of the Washburn University Human Resources team, this position is responsible for providing first line assistance for HR processes and procedures, including benefits, talent acquisition, and employee relations at the technical campuses.
Serves as liaison with Washburn Tech and Washburn University Human Resources as it relates to communication regarding updates or implementation of HR initiatives or processes including benefits enrollment, annual performance reviews, etc.
Serves as the initial point of contact for recruiting efforts at Washburn Tech including the initial review of position descriptions, postings, and appointments. This position is responsible for ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained during the recruitment and appointment processes.
Serves as primary resource for Washburn Tech staff and instructors as it relates to the recruiting process and the applicant tracking system.
Assists with the onboarding of technical instructors and staff. This includes ensuring all relevant hiring forms (electronic or paper) are completed in a timely manner in accordance with University, state and federal requirements.
Assists with the offboarding of technical instructors and staff. This includes ensuring all necessary paperwork has been completed and submitted prior to the employee’s last day and exit interviews scheduled with appropriate Human Resources staff as needed.
Supports and assists with training and development activities for the technical campuses. This includes recommending training and development for an individual or groups. Assists with identifying appropriate presenter(s), room set up and program evaluation.
Works with Washburn University Human Resources to ensure compliance with policies and procedures at all technical campuses.
Assist with serving as a department representative for committees or initiatives in support of the mission.
Maintain confidentiality, good judgment and discretion in all areas of work.
Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in human resources or related area.
- Relevant work experience in human resources.
- Work experience in higher education or similar complex environments.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven success with managing multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
