Job Description:

The Department of Sport Management (SPM) at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications and nominations for one full-time, non-tenure-earning, faculty Lecturer.

We are seeking diverse candidates who will primarily teach undergraduate and graduate courses in both face-to-face and online environments. The successful applicant will be committed to working closely with sport management students, helping to cultivate their knowledge of the sport industry, identify potential field experiences, and promote their professional development. They will have a strong teaching portfolio reflecting their passion for innovative, impactful pedagogy. Finally, the successful candidate will contribute to the diversity, equity, and inclusion mission of the university through their teaching, service, or related activities.

The Department is one of the leading departments in its discipline. Through distinctive and cutting-edge technological approaches in teaching, research, and outreach, SPM seeks to improve the understanding of social, organizational, and environmental factors that lead individuals, families, and communities to value and benefit from sport, and thus develop and improve sustainable sport opportunities that enhance the quality of life for diverse local and global populations. The department includes 6 instructional and 8 tenure-track faculty, who are supported by award winning advisory and administrative staff. Across residential and online programs, SPM reaches more than 900 students (596 undergraduate majors, 316 master’s students, and 15 PhD students). The Sport Management online program was one of the first in the country and is a thriving part of the department. Expected Salary:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

An earned doctorate or master’s (accompanied with at least 5 years of industry experience) in sport management or related discipline is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

An earned doctorate or master’s (accompanied with at least 5 years of industry experience) in sport management or related discipline is required. Candidates should be passionate toward student learning and demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence. We are seeking applications from candidates with expertise in any area related to the management, marketing, or governance of sport. Preference will be given to those candidates who demonstrate expertise in managing sport organizations, sport career preparation, sport business and finance, revenue generation, and/or sport operations. Finally, preferred candidates will have (1) three or more years of experience teaching in higher education; (2) sport industry work experience; (3) experience teaching in an online environment; and (4) experience guiding student internships and practicum experiences.
