Description

The College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin is dedicated to providing exemplary education, training, research, and professional development for Pharm.D. students, graduate students, and postgraduates; to advance discovery, innovation, and patient care. To help advance this mission, we are seeking a distinguished applicant to fill one professional-track (non-tenure), clinical faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate (depending on qualifications) for a full-time Infectious Diseases faculty position. This position is located in San Antonio, Texas and will be co-funded (50/50) with University Hospital and The College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin with a practice site at University Hospital.

University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas is a 639-bed hospital and is considered the premier teaching hospital for San Antonio and South Texas, offering a higher level of coordinated care for routine medical care to the most complex diseases, disorders, and injuries. The practice site provides a wide variety of infectious disease-related care, including antimicrobial stewardship, outpatient antibiotic therapy support, and inpatient and outpatient HIV care.

The successful applicant will facilitate practice laboratories, provide classroom instruction, mentor, and supervise clinical clerkships for students in the Pharm.D. program. Clinical service supporting resident and Pharm.D. student education as well as the operational goals of University Hospital Department of Pharmacy Services is expected. While on-site at University Hospital, faculty members will be embedded in the de-centralized clinical pharmacy team and meet operational department expectations as appropriate. Faculty members will provide service to the college, hospital, university, and broader professional community. The primary practice focus of this position will be infectious diseases at University Hospital. The faculty member will be expected to supervise pharmacy students and residents to help them learn how to care for patients with infectious diseases. The successful individual will have interests in developing interprofessional collaborations to advance pharmacy practice, research, and scholarship. We aim to be an exemplar of intersectional and inclusive excellence through a rigorous approach to the understanding of intercultural engagement in our ever-expanding global world and knowledge economy.
