A member of the Advancement Communications team, the Digital Communications Production Specialist (DCPS) supports the design, production, and distribution of compelling, high profile, digital communications for the Division of Advancement and select University initiatives.
The Digital Communications Production Specialist collaborates on a variety of creative web and media projects, but focuses primarily on the design and implementation of email messages for multiple units within Advancement. The DCPS creates HTML templates in Campaign Monitor, BBIS (Blackbaud), and other tools and is integral to the production of alumni and donor-focused emails that are attractive, engaging, and standards-compliant. This role manages content through multiple drafts, produces personalized bulk emails, segment data, transmits, monitors, and reports on multiple campaigns, as well as coordinates the delivery of alumni-focused messages on behalf of senior University leadership.
The Specialist supports Advancement’s web presence across platforms and content management systems (Drupal, LifeRay, BBIS). This role updates web content and uses their design and front-end development skills to support user-focused, mobile-friendly, and standards-compliant web experiences on Brown’s Alumni & Friends website, giving day microsites, and other digital properties. The DCPS contributes to the creation of new digital assets for multiple communication channels, helps to enforce brand guidelines, and provides a layer of quality control for a large volume of digital publications. The Digital Communications Production Specialist provides occasional project support for video/multimedia and assists with miscellaneous production needs as assigned.
The DCPS works closely with units within Advancement including Information Services, Marketing, and Alumni Relations as well as with Brown’s central Office of University Communications. The role shares knowledge with colleagues across departments as needed and contributes to Advancement’s knowledge base, Confluence, on a regular basis. The DCPS serves as the email subject matter expert within the communications team and is responsible for keeping current on industry best practices, new technologies, user trends, design and accessibility standards, and analytics. Additionally, the Specialist provides light training and support on the communication tools used within the division and other duties as assigned.

- Graphic design experience and proficiency in the use of Adobe
Creative Suite and web development tools.
- Experience with coding/testing/troubleshooting HTML email
messages and using bulk email software required (BBIS, Campaign
Monitor, Constant Contact, etc.).
- High level of proficiency in HTML, CSS, web content, current
web and email standards, and their respective tools and processes
- Experience publishing mobile-friendly, multimedia content
online and working knowledge of web content management systems
- Proficiency in Google Apps Suite and Microsoft Office programs
- Experience with Blackbaud CRM and BBIS.
- Excellent editing, proofreading and communications skills
- Experience adapting/editing graphic and written content for
- Understanding of web metrics and experience with analytics
tools, such as Google Analytics.
- Experience using project management systems and familiarity
with agile workflows.

- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and
