PURPOSE:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Admissions and direct supervision of the Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Extended Education (EE) Admissions Coordinator provides complex student service professional work for all Extended Education prospective students and applicants. Uses knowledge and experience to evaluate and make pre-admissions and admissions eligibility determinations based on records, transcripts, official documents and the appropriate criterion. Recommends educational goals and admissions requirements to potential students. Carries out day to day assignments that affect CSUMB enrollment goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Processes and monitors prospective students and applicants for all extended education programs. In collaboration with the Admissions Extended Ed Evaluator, evaluates transcripts and credentials for domestic admissions across CSUMB. Coordinates the seamless admittance, transfer credit analysis and posting, and enrollment of Extended Education new students and supports new student orientation programs for all EE programs. Works with Admissions Extended Ed Evaluator or evaluation priorities and process. Serves on all EE programs admissions committees.
  • Coordinates the seamless admittance, transfer credit analysis and posting, and enrollment of Extended Education new students and supports new student orientation programs for all EE programs. Works with Admissions Extended Ed Evaluator or evaluation priorities and process. Serves on all EE programs admissions committees.
  • Creates, coordinates and implements effective communication to all EE prospective students and applicants. Manages operational aspects of the Extended Education programs admissions process including: conditional, freshmen, transfer, graduate and various government sponsored student admissions.
  • Provides counseling to prospective students on admission to the university and discusses eligibility with denied students. Advises and counsels new students on admission and transfer course credit.
  • Researches, proposes, and implements office-wide policies/procedures related to admissions processes.
  • Closely collaborates and coordinates admissions functions with all offices that have an impact on EE programs.
  • Serves on University committees, task force teams, and planning groups; and participates with on-campus and local recruiting efforts for EE and other CSUMB student initiatives as requested by the Director.

  • Other Functions:

    1. Assists in coordinating programs with other campus departments.

    2. Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Working knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior; procedures and activities of the program to which assigned; general knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management. General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior.

    Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations; use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements; obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews; reason logically; collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data; advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required; recognize multicultural, multi-sexed and multi‑aged value systems and work accordingly; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts; and, rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regard to other program or service areas Services Office.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job‑ related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    Experience: Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

    SPECIALIZED SKILLS:

    Must have excellent writing and oral communication skills. Must also have the knowledge and the ability to maintain academic records.         PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

        Office environment with standard equipment and tasks. Position requires working at a computer and desk for extended periods of time. May require travel between campus offices and off-campus locations.
