The Department of Medicine, University of Washington (UW) is recruiting a full-time faculty member to join the Division of Gastroenterology based at University of Washington Medical Center. This position will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (without tenure due to funding). Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Assistant professors (WOT) are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors (WOT) hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  Anticipated start date will be July 1, 2023.

The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to be involved in clinical, basic or translational research in provider perceptions of hepatocellular cancer screening and methodology and is expected to secure extramural funding in these areas.  The successful candidate will participate in clinical care of gastroenterology patients, including providing inpatient and outpatient hepatology consultative services and endoscopy services and will be expected to identify patient needs and to provide the care needed to promote improvement. Teaching responsibilities would involve oversight of medical students, residents, and fellows during outpatient and inpatient clinical activities, in concert with the GI and Transplant Hepatology Fellowship program.

Clinically, the successful applicant will be expected to provide care to the level of age specific diseases and the range of disease severity and identify patient needs and to provide care needed to promote improvement.

It is expected the candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the management of Gastroenterology diseases and disorders. The successful applicant will be expected have at least 5 years of experience providing moderate sedation for endoscopic procedures. In addition, it is expected the candidate will demonstrate a track record of published academic contributions.

Requirements include:

•Board Certification in Gastroenterology (or foreign equivalent)

•Medical Degree (or foreign equivalent)

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
