The successful candidate will teach recurring courses in music theory and musicianship and will work with the department to expand the theory curriculum to encompass music traditions, idioms and practices beyond the European-American classical canon, incorporating areas such as global, vernacular, popular, jazz, and Indigenous music; contemporary sonic arts; etc.
Additional expertise in the area of keyboard performance, music technology, or any other area of music or interdisciplinary music studies would be an advantage. The teaching expectation is five courses per academic year, in a 3/2 course load.
Candidates from historically underrepresented or marginalized groups are encouraged to apply. The appointee will teach and mentor students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.
