Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Modern Art History in the Department of Art, Art History and Visual Studies, Duke University

The Department of Art, Art History and Visual Studies at Duke University invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track faculty position in Modern Art history at the assistant professor level. Exceptional candidates whose requirements for the Ph.D. will be completed before the appointment officially begins will also be considered.

We seek applications from individuals whose work makes significant contributions to Modern Art scholarship, broadly conceived. Scholars whose research attends to artists and art movements between the mid-19^th and mid-20^th centuries, and that cast new light on the historical avant-gardes and the distinctive modernities that emerged across cultural and geopolitical frontiers are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants should demonstrate a dedication to pedagogy, inclusive classrooms, and courses that incorporate critical approaches to the history of art.
