POSITION SUMMARY:
Department of Manufacturing Engineering at Central State University (Wilberforce, Ohio) is seeking a highly motivated individual for a full-time, 3-year, non-tenure-track research faculty position beginning January 2023. The position is in the broad areas of semiconductor materials and devices. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program that involves undergraduate students, teach new and existing courses, and work to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the semiconductor field. CSU values the diversity of faculty and staff and encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include

  • Establishing an independent research program and acquiring external funding,
  • Engaging and training undergraduate students in research projects,
  • Teaching existing and new undergraduate-level courses in semiconductor processing and
  • computer hardware technology,
  • Advise the assigned students and participate in recruitment and retention activities,
  • Managing and assisting in the technical operation of the microfabrication laboratory,
  • including the semiconductor probe station, semiconductor device parameter analyzer,
  • automatic wire bonder,
  • Establishing and managing a semiconductor simulation lab,
  • Organizing and running equipment training for students and external users,
  • Supervising students and technicians in the lab equipment utilization,
  • Establishing operating protocols and safety procedures,
  • and designing new lab curricula and activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned Ph.D. or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems, Physics, Material Science, or related field from an accredited college or university is required at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Practical experience in semiconductor device fabrication and characterization,
  • Proficient in semiconductor device simulations,
  • Interest and experience in interdisciplinary collaboration to develop curricula for new semiconductor processing and  computer hardware technology training degree programs,
  • Demonstrated knowledge of semiconductor material property and optoelectronic device physics,
  • Interest and ability to teach undergraduate level courses in semiconductors,
  • Experience leading research projects evidenced by a track record of publications and
  • acquiring funding from external agencies, and conducting independent research,
  • Interest and ability to engage and train undergraduate engineering students in semiconductor research projects,
  • and interest in working in a culturally diverse university and team setting,
