The School of Humanities, Education, Justice & Social Sciences at Lasell University is seeking a part-time/adjunct instructor to teach a course in Introduction to Literature & Literary Studies.

Course Description: The course provides an introduction to a variety of forms and styles in poetry, drama, short story, fiction, memoir, and essay; European, North American, and world literatures are considered. The focus is on interpreting texts; students are introduced to various schools of interpretation and to standards for supporting an interpretation. Students become familiar with the conventional elements of each genre and with the terminology of critical interpretation. The course introduces print and database tools for research on literature.

This is a face-to-face, on-campus course that is scheduled to meet 8 - 9:15a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Develop a syllabus and course outline for students that clearly communicates course learning outcomes, assignments, and due dates.
• Align course assignments and learning outcomes with departmental learning objectives; provide student work samples for assessment purposes
• Provide instruction for all sessions of assigned courses utilizing the university philosophy of connected learning.
• Maintain office hours each week.
• Incorporate Canvas (online learning platform) into the course.
• Keep accurate records of student progress (grades) and complete mid-semester and final grade reports.
• Create an inclusive and equitable environment to support students from diverse backgrounds

Qualifications:

A Master's degree in literature or a relevant field and experience teaching at the college level. Ph.D. preferred. as well as a Ph.D. in a related field preferred.
