Reporting to the Facilities Planner the Facilities Project Manager
provides management and coordination of assigned capital projects
and facilities systemic projects. Projects cover a wide range of
scale from large capital construction projects, small in-house
renovation work to facilities information.
The position manages assigned projects through all phases of the project lifecycle including design, construction, and closeout. Develops and manages project plans, scope of work and budgets for assigned projects based on the needs of the end-user and college community. Ensures alignment of projects with colleges strategic plans. Assists other college areas with projects by providing project management support.
Position coordinates, leads, and supervises contractors and temporarily assigned in-house work crews. Assists Facilities Planner with projects in a support role. Collects and maintains campus facilities data as needed. Provides design, inspection, plan review, and oversight with project management services as assigned. Develops drawings, presentations, and proposals and manages the work for specified capital and systemic projects.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Associate's degree in facilities management, construction management or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience managing in facilities in a higher education environment preferred.
- Knowledge of building codes, building construction, ADA compliance, project concepts, material boards, floor plans, perspective drawings, and project schedules preferred.
- Knowledge of Federal, state and local building regulations, building safety standards, and other pertinent codes regarding planning, construction, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of procedures for building inspections.
- Working knowledge of desktop design and rendering applications such as Bluebeam, AutoCad, Revit, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suite.
- Conducts research via the web on various project and Facilities-related topics.
- Analytical problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to regularly use own initiative and to define and resolve problems.
- Ability to supervise, manage, and direct in-house college staff in assigned projects.
- Ability to coordinate with other functional areas of the college
- Manage and communicate with external firms and agencies to perform duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of internal and external constituents.
- Ability to interact tactfully and to deal courteously and effectively with others.
- Ability to clearly communicate objectives and direct the efforts of others through work orders, project summaries, and other means.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Extended hours during peak periods, fast pace, busy, deadline driven, and high stress conditions. Works varying hours when needed to accommodate vendor delivery and installation to limit disruption of college services.
