Howard Community College is seeking motivated, creative, flexible,
collaborative, and visionary full-time language faculty candidates
with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching languages
and culture to teach beginning and intermediate Spanish and another
language such as American Sign Language, French, Russian, Japanese
or Korean to a diverse student population. Criteria include
evidence of teaching excellence both in online and face-to-face
modes; strong communication and interpersonal skills in a
multicultural environment; strong organizational and leadership
skills to provide program-level coordination; and an appreciation
for the community college philosophy and mission.
The incumbent will be required to participate in college and/or community service. Daytime, evening, and weekend courses are taught at HCC across all platforms: face-to-face, online and hybrid. We are looking for a colleague with the ability to engage students and to instruct using a range of teaching methods and pedagogies.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in grant writing

- Master's degree in Spanish or a related field
- Major or minor, or equivalent, in American Sign Language, French, Russian, Japanese or Korean; or intermediate-mid or higher level in American Sign Language, French, Russian, Japanese or Korean
- College level teaching experience
- Online language teaching experience
- Understanding of ACTFL standards and Integrated Performance Assessment
- Experience in curriculum development
Preferred QualificationsExperience in grant writing
