Assistant Professor: Biology

The Department of Biology at Shippensburg University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Anatomy with a start date of August 2023. Primary responsibilities include teaching upper-level Human Anatomy, with preference given to candidates with expertise in teaching additional courses that support our Health Professions program, such as Human Physiology and an upper division course within their area of expertise. Teaching responsibilities may also include instruction in a two-course introductory-level sequence of Human Anatomy and Physiology or instruction of a graduate course that complements current offerings in the department. In addition to fulfillment of teaching responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to conduct scholarly activity, with an emphasis on research that supports Health Professions students, and participate in service to the University. Teaching assignments may include nights and/or weekends. In addition, faculty members are expected to perform other duties as assigned in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Biology, with expertise in Anatomy or Physiology of Vertebrates (especially humans) from an accredited institution completed by May 31, 2023. As part of a successful on-campus interview process, candidates will be expected to provide a demonstration of teaching effectiveness, a research seminar, and evidence of understanding diverse populations.

Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in teaching additional courses that support our Health Professions program, such as Human Physiology and an upper division course within their area of expertise.
