Associate Vice President for Administration, Commonwealth Campuses

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Associate Vice President for Administration, Commonwealth Campuses. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses and Executive Chancellor (VPEC) and will serve as a member of the Vice President's leadership team. The Associate Vice President will provide leadership and supervision in the administrative areas of strategic planning and implementation, budget planning and resource allocation, human resources, strategic communications, and intercollegiate athletics within the Commonwealth Campuses.

This position will assist the VPEC on the day-to-day administration of the 20 Commonwealth Campuses, policy integration, communications, and funding requests. This position will provide leadership on a variety of issues and initiatives including strategic planning and analysis, budget and facility management, and assist with the goal setting and orientation of campus chancellors. The position also works closely with the Associate Vice President and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs, who provides leadership for academic offices and curricular initiatives at the Commonwealth Campuses.

This position will liaise with and serve as the chief point of contact with other administrative units of Penn State University, including but not limited to Campus Crisis Management, Public Relations, Police and Public Safety, Government Affairs, Housing and Food Services, the Office of Physical Plant, Business Services, Ethics and Compliance (Athletic Integrity), the University Budget Office and the Office of Planning, Assessment, and Institutional Research. This position will also liaise with Campus Advisory Boards.

Education and experience:

Candidates must have a Master's degree, doctorate preferred, and have a minimum of five years of related administrative experience with the above. Other essential skills include a broad knowledge of major issues within higher education, an exceptional level of intellect, collegiality, integrity, creativity and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and successfully with others. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential.
