Summary

The duties and responsibilities that have been delegated to the University’s Title IX compliance efforts include, but are not limited to, the following.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Prepare and disseminate educational materials including brochures, posters, and web-based materials that inform members of the campus community of Title IX rights and responsibilities.
  2. Coordinate training for students about their rights under Title IX and grievance procedures; coordinate in-service training to all employees concerning Title IX policy.
  3. Receive and process, in a timely manner, inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and administrators regarding rights and responsibilities concerning harassing behavior or other discriminatory behavior in violation of Title IX.
  4. Receive and process, in a timely manner, inquiries from third parties who report suspicion of harassing behavior or other discriminatory behavior in violation of Title IX.
  5. Refer inquiries to other resources that are not appropriate for investigation (e.g., Human Resources).
  6. Notify complainants of receipt of the complaint.
  7. Notify respondents that a complaint has been made.
  8. Notify the supervisor(s) of the respondent that a complaint has been made.
  9. Investigate alleged discrimination and/or harassment.
  10. Interview complainants, respondents, and material witnesses; obtain and review documents and other relevant materials from complainant and/or respondent.
  11. Issue findings of fact and recommendations for disposition of complaints and notify all parties regarding disposition.
  12. Monitor compliance with all requirements and timelines specified in the complaint/grievance procedures.
  13. Trains staff responsible for implementing grievance procedures.
  14. Coordinate and monitor Title IX efforts of other delegates and University offices that receive and/or investigate complaints, including but not limited to Human Resources, Safety Services, Student Services, and Athletics.
  15. Organize and maintain grievance files, disposition reports, and other compiled records regarding complaints of sexual harassment and other discriminatory practices, including annual descriptive reports of the number and nature of filed complaints and disposition of complaints.
  16. Remain knowledgeable of the current state and federal laws and regulations and trends in the field of education related to harassment and other discriminatory practices that violate Title IX.
  17. Monitor University Harassment policy and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal law and regulations; serve as a liaison to state and federal government compliance or investigation officers.
  18. Conduct investigations that are not related to Title IX as determined necessary by the supervisor.
  19. Prepare comprehensive written reports that accurately document all relevant facets of such investigations, including but not limited to interviews, individual perspectives, scene assessments, collection/preservation of evidence and photographs, and notifications made.
  20. Evaluate reports submitted by others to identify necessary additional investigative steps, documentation, and/or evidence.
  21. Review collected physical and photographic evidence, drawing inferences to the significance/meaning of each and developing additional potential investigative areas for inquiry.
  22. Respond to location(s), as directed by the supervisor, to direct or assume responsibility for investigations.

  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with paralegal experience or equivalent preferred.
