Job Description

This 12-month position appointment is renewable annually. Primary responsibilities would include coordination of the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) program under the guidance of the department chair, academic/clinical teaching, and clinical supervision as commensurate with experience and departmental needs. Additional responsibilities may include service to the university, the state, and the profession depending on funding and needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • The candidate is required to have the following:
    • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology
    • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence
    • Have or be eligible for Kansas licensure through Health Occupations Credentialing in the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services
  • One year of experience as a fully licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills and be prepared to work as a team member within the program and in the community.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five years or more of experience in clinical training, teaching, and/or clinical supervision.
  • Experience working in a school setting
  • Experience in supervising speech and language pathologist assistants and/or paraprofessionals.
  • Experience in program development and/or management in the school settings.

About the Department:

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is one of six departments within the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. The CSD department is active in teaching, research, and service through integrated academic and clinical coursework. The department offers a Bachelor of Science degree and a CAA accredited Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. The Herndon Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic is housed within the department and serves the Hays area and surrounding communities.
