Introduction (Description of School/College/Dept/Program)
The UWM College of General Studies is a great choice for local students who want a two-year degree or a valuable start to a four-year degree. The small college atmosphere offers engaging courses in more than 200 academic majors as well as exceptional faculty and a supportive environment for students who are taking an active role in shaping their futures.

Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of General Studies, the Dean's Office Assistant provides executive administrative assistance to the Dean of the College of General Studies, Assistant Dean for Finance, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and department chairs. The role requires communication with multiple constituencies including UW-Milwaukee Administration and various leaders from UWM schools and colleges, community members and the general public, and CGS faculty, staff, and students. The onsite position requires administrative, financial, and managerial responsibilities of a complex and confidential nature utilizing general guidance and substantial independent judgment. The position is primarily located at the Waukesha campus but might require occasional assistance at the Washington County campus of CGS.

Minimum Qualifications
  • At least one year or more administrative office management experience in a professional setting.
  • At least one year experience with and/or evidence of word processing and software knowledge.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of strong written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates experience in critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Work experience in UW-Milwaukee or UW-System or other education setting.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, independent judgement and initiative.
