Salary & Benefits:                     Salary is $35,568 .Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

 

Classification:                            Full-time, Technical/Professional, Pay Grade PT1, Exempt.

  The Displaced Homemaker program offers educational assistance and additional support to empower people in our community who are transitioning into sustainable employment after working primarily in the home and/or having depended on another income that no longer exists. Many participants are women who have lost financial support after a life-changing event. The purpose of this position is to work individually with program participants to better understand their needs and what instructions and community services might fit their specific situation.  The instructional specialist will arrange for presenters, offer computer skill instructions, and present workshop on various employment-based workshops as well as work with many of the area social services agencies.

 

Responsibilities and duties include:

 

 

  • Provide program recruitment and intake assistance. Administer career and academic assessments. Teach academic and career pathways classes and workshops. Meet with individual students and groups to help develop career and educational goals. Provide program orientation activities. Follow up with students to assess program success and progress toward program completion & transition. Help students negotiate barriers to program attendance by referral to and follow-up with assistance agencies. Provide assistance, support, and training activities to help students gain the information & skills to successfully transition into certificate, degree and industry credential programs and/or careers. Compile and enter program data and maintain accurate records for grant reporting and provide reports in a timely manner. Assist in writing and monitoring future grants. Participate in relevant outreach services to share information about the program and the college Participate as a team member in departmental activities, which support the department mission. Participate in staff and committee work. Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:   Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of social service related work experience.

 

Additional Requirements:  A criminal background check will be conducted.

 

Preferred:  Excellent communications and presentation skills; ability to deliver instructions for individual and in a group setting. Excellent computer skills (including MS Suite, Zoom, TEAMS, etc.). Experience with database creation and management. Organized and detail oriented.

Relationship Management – able to personally provide high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs. Multi-task - Ability to expeditiously organize, coordinate, manage, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously to swiftly assess a situation, determine a logical course of action, and apply the appropriate response. Communication – able to effectively communicate in a professional, diplomatic, empathetic, and tactful manner using preferred method and level as applicable to the job. Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
