Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Management at the Quinlan School of Business invites applications for a tenure-track position in business ethics at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, depending on qualifications, starting Fall 2023.

Quinlan has a long tradition of philosophical and normative business ethics, with faculty who have shaped the field nationally and internationally over the last fifty years. Applicants must have a core research and teaching strength in business ethics or a similar area broadly related to the normative dimensions of markets, firms, and other economic institutions. Applicants with an additional interest or disciplinary background are encouraged to apply. Ethics courses are required for almost all programs, reflecting the university’s commitment to the Jesuit mission. Teaching responsibilities will include required and elective courses in business ethics at the undergraduate and Master’s ( MBA ) levels.

Social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion are core elements of the University’s mission. The Department of Management encourages individuals from historically marginalized groups to apply for the position. The Quinlan School of Business strives to fully represent our community by continually searching for applicants with different backgrounds to enrich the educational experience. Moreover, we value the ability to practice culturally responsive teaching, anti-racist pedagogy, and a social justice lens to research in line with the Jesuit educational mission of the university.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent, or be close to completion, by August 2023 in Business Ethics or related field (including, but not limited to Philosophy, Law, Political Science or Sociology) from an accredited institution. Required qualifications include the capacity and potential to conduct research publishable in top-tier outlets.
