CLINICAL FACULTY IN HOSPITALITY, TRAVEL, TOURISM AND/OR EVENT TECHNOLOGY
Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality
NYU SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

The Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality (NYU/SPS) is seeking a dynamic and engaged candidate for the position of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor to begin in September 2023.  The nine-month Clinical Assistant/Associate Professorship will provide service to our undergraduate and graduate programs, with a specific focus on hospitality, travel, tourism and/or event technology (digital distribution, technology, digital marketing). We are particularly interested in candidates that can bring connections with industry, and who are interested in pursuing applied research and teaching around issues related to the digital transformation.

Candidates can be from any disciplinary field. We seek faculty candidates who have experience or evidence of the potential for success in teaching students from diverse linguistic, cultural, racial and ethnic groups.

Prior teaching experience is desirable, as are candidates who can foster professional networks within the School of Professional Studies, the larger NYU community, and industry partners.  Full-time faculty members are expected to teach three courses per semester. In addition to teaching, faculty members advise students, organize departmental activities, participate in curriculum planning and evaluation, conduct research, recruit and supervise adjunct faculty, and nurture industry relationships.

Professional Experience: The successful applicant will possess evidence of professional distinction, industry experience, and appropriate academic credentials. Graduate or professional degrees (M.A., M.Sc., MBA, etc.) are expected; doctoral studies are appreciated, but not required. For candidates who may not have formal teaching experience within a university setting, other types of activities associated with higher education will be considered, including teaching in a professional environment or evidence of excellent communication and analytical skills.

The Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality brings together industry leaders, students, and communities of practice together through curriculum and programming in hospitality, tourism, and event management.  Top-level coursework and rigorous study are complimented by seminars, conferences, and programs that put students in direct contact with industry leaders.  NYUs students and faculty are globally minded and locally situated, contributing to the vitality and dynamism of New York City.  The Tisch Center organizes the NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference, which generates scholarship support for our master´s students. The Tisch Center has recently inaugurated the Hospitality Innovation Hub, a dynamic space for experiential learning, prototyping, and innovation that also hosts the Travel and Tourism Research Collaboratory.
