Psychology Lecturer

PSYCHOLOGY LECTURER, Full-time

Calvin University invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in the Psychology Department, beginning in August 2023. Area of specialization is open. The position involves teaching Introductory Psychology and courses in the applicant’s area of specialization. Preference would be given to a candidate who could also teach Statistics. The appointment is a 3-year, non-tenure-track position, eligible for renewal.

REQUIREMENTS

The university seeks applicants with vibrant Christian faith who are dedicated to integration of that faith with their field of study. 

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Psychology (Ph.D. or PsyD).

Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching a range of undergraduate courses, with a commitment to teaching excellence and innovation, active-learning, and engagement of students with diverse cultural backgrounds. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching using a variety of methods and instructional technology. Applicants are required to have excellent interpersonal and English communication skills—in the classroom, with colleagues, in written work, and in listening. Experience with course development preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibility of this position will be teaching undergraduate courses. The teaching load will be 32 credit hours per academic year. There are no expectations of pursuing scholarship or serving on university-wide committees, but active participation in the department’s faculty activities such as faculty meetings and committees is expected. Candidates will be asked to affirm their commitment to the educational mission of Calvin University as a Christian liberal arts university in the Reformed tradition, affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church.
